Finally – It’s spring in Indy.

The flowers are blooming, trees are budding, and the green grass is calling us to explore our city’s parks once again. We have a lot of updates to share with you so read on for more ways to explore and connect with parks!

Over the past year, Indy residents and people throughout the world have discovered or rediscovered their nearby parks, trails, and green spaces. These spaces equalize neighbors and residents otherwise experiencing differing levels of privilege. And we’ve never known that more than the past year as we – collectively – struggled through a global pandemic. Since the onset of quarantines and lockdowns, Indy’s parks have provided reliable adventure, a reprieve from anxiety, and the ability to connect safely with others. What could be more powerful than this?

Parks have been there for us during a very difficult time, and we are ready to redouble our efforts to make sure our parks thrive. Today marks the official launch date for our annual giving campaign, Power of Parks presented by AES Indiana.

For the next 365 days, we challenge you to support the parks by making a reoccurring $30 donation each month. Your contribution to this campaign will directly support parks, programs, and the access they provide to everyone. And even cooler? You’ll be invited to an exclusive celebration in May 2022 made possible by AES Indiana.

Can we count on you to support the Power of Parks?

“PARKS ARE THE ULTIMATE EQUALIZER BECAUSE THEY ARE TRULY FOR EVERYONE; THEY DON’T CARE HOW MUCH MONEY YOU HAVE, WHAT YOUR SKIN COLOR IS, OR WHAT LANGUAGE YOU SPEAK.”

RYAN CAMBRIDGE | SENIOR ASSOCIATE, BROWNING DAY

More about the Power of Parks presented by AES Indiana!
  • Since 2003, the Parks Alliance of Indianapolis has hosted its premier fundraising event, Mayor’s Lunch for Parks presented by AES Indiana. This corporate luncheon has directly supported the work of the Parks Alliance, and although the event is known as the “fun lunch,” its impact is very serious. Raising more than $3 million since inception this event invests in the work of the Parks Alliance and supports high-impact parks projects throughout Marion County.

Our priority is the safety of our staff, board and network – including all of Indianapolis’ residents – so while it’s been a difficult decision, this event will not take place this year. Instead, the Parks Alliance team has pivoted to address this crucial fundraising event by implementing an annual fundraising campaign: Power of Parks presented by AES Indiana.

You can directly support this project by making your contribution here.
