We believe in the power of public spaces to transform a city. Our parks, trails, greenways, blueways, and urban farms are more than amenities. They define us. They are a reminder of our priorities. They are a point of pride for those who live here. And, they are memorable for those who are just passing through.

We believe a city is only as great as its public spaces, and Indianapolis benefits from a sustained focus on its parks system. Because when our spaces are open and accessible, our city is too.

Since its creation in 1991, The Parks Alliance has been committed to changing expectations for Indianapolis’ parks by focusing resources in strategic areas that strengthen our community and elevate parks and trails and eliminate food insecurity.

For more than 20 years, The Parks Alliance has been proud to partner with the City of Indianapolis and the Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF) to lead the development and maintenance of Indy’s parks, trails, greenways, and public spaces. Having received over $17M in grants from the Lilly Endowment, we have made significant infrastructure improvements in the city’s most urban and utilized parks.

  • Vision

    Vision

To make Indy a nationally recognized parks city by demonstrating the transformational power of parks.

  • Mission

    Mission

A non-partisan, 501(c)3 non-profit, and proud partner of the Central Indiana Community Foundation that exists to connect resources to needs by uniting government and community on behalf of Indy’s parks and public spaces.

And building on the successes over the years, we are focusing our funds on truly transformative projects, including Tarkington Park, Riverside Park, Indy Urban Acres, and Frederick Douglass Park. In the coming years, The Park Alliance of Indianapolis will continue to aid the City through its fundraising and advocacy efforts of additional transformative public spaces.

Aligned with this new vision, it has become imperative for us to be immersed in these transformative projects. Now located in our own space at Indy’s historic Riverside Park, the team is easily accessible and more readily available to be involved in the transformative power of parks and aid in rehabilitating the marina and other projects in the future.
