Farmraiser is back! With people! And we’re celebrating 10 years of Indy Urban Acres! So, dust off those boots (and conversation skills), find your favorite flannel, and get ready for dinner, drinks, dancing, and fun on the farm.

If you have not attended one of the previous 7 Farmraisers, you may be asking yourself, “What in tarnation is a Farmraiser?” Well, we are happy you asked. Also, we are immensely impressed with your Yosemite Sam impression. Good work.

Farmraiser

Farmraiser is a 21+ fundraiser in support of Indy Urban Acres, a project of The Parks Alliance of Indianapolis. Now, don’t let the word “fundraiser” scare you away, because this event is 100% party. Farmraiser falls on the last Saturday in September. You will be sipping the best local drinks, munching on tasty local eats, listening to live music, boot scootin’ with friends, and enjoying a one-of-a-kind experience under the sun and stars at our main farm.

  • DATE: SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 25
  • TIME: 6:00-10:00
  • PLACE: INDY URBAN ACRES – 7700 E 21ST STREET, 46219

What’s Indy Urban Acres?

Indy Urban Acres is a collection of organic farms used to empower and educate people by providing equitable access to free, high quality organic produce. IUA has grown into a multi-disciplinary farm that works to inspire transformational change within Indy’s food system by providing food justness for low-income families and developing entrepreneurial skills in young farmers.

During the pandemic, IUA grew a record-breaking amout of produce and staffed the food pantry to ensure that healthy produce and food was making its way to our most vulnerable neighbors.

Since 2011 Indy Urban Acres has donated roughly 300,000 lbs of produce. That means nearly 2 million servings and a retail value of about $1 million. That’s a lot of green!

IUA has also hosted roughly 11,000 children on tours, nearly 12,000 volunteers, and employed 480 teens during the summer.

What should I wear?

Don’t worry. It’s not business casual, classy casual, business-informal, or some other oxymoron you need to dissect, decode, and second guess. Look good and feel good. The event is outside, and late September can be hotter than a firework on the 4th or as cold as skinny-dipper on a breezy night. So, dress for the weather.

Feel free to embrace your inner farmer and put on your nicest overalls and straw hat. Go full John Wayne! Wear boots, cowboy hat, bandana, and chaps (please wear pants under chaps). OR… Just wear what feels right.

Footwear: Anything goes, but we are on grass, mulch, and dirt so you may want to leave the rollerblades and stilettos heels at home.
