On Saturday, March 26 we hosted our first ever run – Park5k presented by V3 Companies. Late-March snow flurries, steep hills, live music, and smiling faces made it a great day to get moving in benefit of The Parks Alliance of Indianapolis.

Over 70 runners, community members, and stakeholders came out to participate in this collaborative event.

The park chosen for this event was Riverside Adventure Park because of the upcoming construction that’s getting ready to take place. Participant in this 5k were able to interact with Riverside Adventure Park like never before. Signage was placed throughout the course marking the 5 interactive zones planned for this massive green space. While runner were able to catch the headlines, walkers were able to enjoy a more detailed description of what’s to come.

Runners shared that one of the highlights of this unique experience was running down the longest soap box derby hill in the country (1,000 feet)! They also enjoyed the bubblegum pink shirts and wooden finisher medals

A huge thanks to our friends at Run(317) who we guided us through this and hint: they are pretty incredible, if you didn’t already know. Be sure to check out all of their runs this year: Run(317) Schedule. Whether running, walking or jogging we hope you get out and enjoy more of our parks this spring and summer.
