Dear Friends and Stakeholders,

Today I write to you with a mix of emotions as I announce my departure from my role as President & CEO of The Parks Alliance of Indianapolis after 10 years, 18 with the organization. It has been an honor and a privilege to lead this organization and witness the tremendous growth and positive impact that has been made.

I want to express my deepest appreciation to you. Your unwavering support, collaboration, and commitment to our parks have been the driving force behind our success. I am grateful for the friendships, memories, and the opportunity to have been part of this remarkable journey.

Reflecting on the journey we have taken together; I am immensely proud of what has been achieved. With your unwavering support and dedication, we have moved The Parks Alliance to the next level of excellence and have propelled parks to new heights. We have: raised $100 million; completed numerous capital projects; helped acquire hundreds of acres of park land; increased The Parks Alliance staff fivefold; created an urban farm to provide free produce in underserved areas; rebranded to improve and enhance our name recognition and messaging; and repurposed a derelict park property along the White River to become The Parks Alliance office, providing an amazing venue within which to work and meet with The Parks Alliance various constituents and supporters to share ideas as we work to achieve our common purpose. Together, we implemented transformative change, enhanced facilities, expanded programs, and improved the overall quality of life for the Indianapolis community.

Leaving this position was not an easy decision for me. This organization holds a special place in my heart. But, I believe it is the right time for me to explore new opportunities and contribute my skills and experience to new endeavors. I leave knowing that The Parks Alliance is in capable hands. The exceptional team I have built will continue to carry forward our mission, build upon our accomplishments, and create an even brighter future for Indy’s parks and community. Behind the team you will also find an effective, mission driven Board of Directors supporting, motivating, and guiding staff.

Although my time as President & CEO comes to an end on June 30, my belief in the value of parks, trails, and open space stands firm. Thank you for the privilege of serving as President & CEO of this remarkable organization. It has been a truly transformative experience, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have been part of this incredible journey.

With heartfelt appreciation,

Lori Hazlett
